May 28th,

Reviewed Oxidation and Reduction.  Looked at the Activity Series of Metal Table on p. 718 and then began introducing oxidation numbers.  Assigned p. 726 #9-12.

May 25th,

Test is on Wednesday!!  Today we went over an introduction to redox reactions.  See notes above. Assigned pages 715 and 716 # 1-8 for homework.

 

May 19th,

Test on Tuesday,  Lab due Friday.  Tonight read p 608-610.  Today we went over titration curves.  See notes above.

May 17th

Corrected homework #17,18, 20 a&c, together on the board.  Homework check for the worksheet Neutralizations... and the 1-9 questions from last Wednesday.

Went into the lab and practiced how to do a titration..  LAb tomorrow.

May 13th,

Introduced Indicators. (See notes above).  Went into lab.   Will finish lab tomorrow.

May 11th

Checked homework from last night.  See above for answers.  Introduced solving for Kb.

May 10th

Went over weak acids and Ka values.  Assigned Page 591-592 #5-10.  Due tomorrow.

May 6th,

Corrected problems from yesterday.  See yesterday's notes.  Assigned 4 problems to be done in class and corrected. (See above)

May 5th,

Notes on Chapter 15.  See above.  Assigned #3 p. 586 for homework!

May 3rd,

Introduced doing dilution calculations using pH.  Assigned p 574 #26-29. Test tomorrow on Chapter 14 and LeChatelier's.

April 30th,

Went over homework.  Went into the lab.

April 29th,

Reviewed how to name acids.  (See above)  The class continued to work on their sheet from yesterday.  It is due tomorrow.

April 28th,

Reviewed homework #12- #15.  Introduced how to calculate pH etc.(See above)  Worked on a worksheet.  Pick up in class tomorrow.

April 27th,

Reviewed homework # 10 and 11. Introduced Kw.  (See notes above) Assigned questions 12-15.

TEST NEXT TUESDAY ON CHAPTER 14

April 26th

Went over worksheet from Friday.  Introduced Strength of acids and bases. (see above)  Assigned p. 256 # 10 and 11 for homework.

April 23rd

Went over the questions from Chapter 14.  Handed out worksheet to work on during the class and to finish over the weekend.

APril 22nd

Morning class went over the questions for Chapter 14.  Afternoon class worked on CHapter 14 questions (see above).  Both classes did an in-class assignment on Lechatelier's principle.

 

April 21st

Labs are due Monday April 26th. 

 

Today we went over LeChatelier's principle and started working on questions from CHapter 14.  If you weren't here you can read over Ch. 14.1 for tomorrow and get the questions when you come to class.

 

April 20th

Labs are due on April 26th (monday). 

Today we introduced LeChatelier's Principle did some practice together and then worked on the worksheet and corrected it.  (See Above)We will have a quick in-class assignment tomorrow on it.

Went over homework. Worked on small kc.  Assigned p 515 # 25-29.

 

 

 

April 7th Introduced two new R.I.C.E tables. (see above) Checked problems for homework from the previous night.  Assigned p. 508-511  #14-17.

 

April 6th.  We went over homework (check) questions from chapter 13.  Introduced Equilibrium and RICE tables.  Do examples 2 and 4 for homework.

 March 31.  We did a review game for half of the class and then went over an introduction to equilibrium (see notes above).  A homework assignment went home and will be checked on Tuesday (see above) 

Mar. 29th Introduced Reaction rates and Potential Energy Diagrams (See above). Assigned P.476 # 1-4

Worked on In-Class Assignment.  If you were not here you are expected to download it from above and complete it to be handed in on Monday after March Break.  As well, look over the Molarity notes and examples (above)  do numbers 1-5 on the Molarity worksheet.

Block B - Went over Enthalpies of Formation corrected questions and then introduced Bond Energies and worked on p. 690 #23-26.

Block D - Went over Enthalpies of Formation assigned ques. page 687 #19-22 and then corrected copied notes on Bond Energies

Hess's Law Lab.  Checked Pre-Lab.  Labs will be due Friday.

Mar. 8th

Homework check (Hess's Law worksheet).  Reviewed some of the problems. Handed out Answer Key.  Introduced the formation method of calculating enthalpy change (page 684-688) See notes above.  Did Ques. # 19 - 22 p. 687 in class.  Handed back tests. Handed out our Hess's Law lab for tomorrow.  Pre-Lab is due tomorrow.

Test on Chapter 16. Homework Assignment - Read to learn section 17.2, pages 677-681.  Study the sample problem and try problems # 11 and 12 on page 681.

 Worked on review problems from the textbook page 657 and 658 # 1,2,7,11-18.  Finish for homework.

Feb. 18th

Reviewed q= nH and introduced enthalpy and state changes (See notes above)  Homework Page  648-649 #25-28.  Homework check tomorrow.  In-class Assignment tomorrow.  (See above)

Feb. 16th

Handed in Labs.

We corrected homework (see above). Introduced measuring energy with different amounts of reactants and products. (See notes above) Assigned page 645 # 19-23 to be completed for tomorrow.

 Grade 11 Review Sheet Due Friday Feb 12th.

 Feb.12th - Reviewed Enthalpy.  Worked on problems on the board.  FInish for the weekend. (Block B)  Block D had a sheet handed out due Tuesday.

Feb. 11th Introduced Heat Capacity and started section 16.2 Enthalpy.  Block B students were to do p 643 #15 and 16. Block D students had class cut short.

Feb. 10th

Specific heat capacity of a metal lab.  Due Friday.

 Feb. 8th- Reviewed material from Friday and worked on last example.  Worked on In-Class assignment (see above) for the remainder of the class.  Finish for homework.  Lab tomorrow.

 Feb. 5th - Introduced Thermochemistry.  Section 16.1 in the text. (See above notes)

Feb. 4th -  Grade 11 review sheet was handed out.  It needs to be completed by next Friday Feb. 12th.  You can come in and get extra help with it at lunchtime if you need it.  (You can download sheet from above if need be)
